The '86 944 turbos have a different wheel offset then '87+ cars. The reason the '86 cars had different offsets is because they did not have ABS brakes which required the larger hubs that the later cars had. '86 cars were available from the factory with two different styles of wheels. The standard wheels were the pressure cast "phone dial" wheels and the forged Fuchs alloy wheels were optional. Both sets of wheels were 16 x 7 in the front and 16 x 8 in the rear. The Fuchs are hard to find because the 8's are the right of size for the front of a 911 so there are more people besides the '86 944 turbo owners looking for them.

Many different companies make after market wheels for 944 Turbos but the '86 cars have to have the different offset then the rest of the 944 Turbos. The aftermarket '86 offset wheels should fit 911's and 930's through 1989. You can buy these wheels from many different places. The Tirerack, Wheel Enhancement, By Design to name a few.

In 1987, the Phone Dials were standard. The 928 forged flat dish wheels were optional in 1987 also. In 1988, Phone Dials were still available. In '88 the 944 turbo S was introduced it came standard with the 16x7 and 16x9 forged Design 90 "Clubsport wheels". The forged wheels were standard from 1989 on. There were also some pressure cast Design 90 wheels that were available on S2's they look identical to the forged wheels and they will fit all 87+ turbos.
